More Solar Panels Doesn’t Mean More Power

You wouldn’t buy light bulbs just by the box. You’d check the wattage to see how bright they are, right? Solar panels work the same way.

Buying based on how many panels you’re getting, without checking their power rating, is like buying 40-watt bulbs when you really need 100s.

🎯 What Really Counts: Peak Power Output

Not all panels are created equal. A high-efficiency panel might generate 550W, while a cheaper one might only deliver 440W. So 10 panels could mean 5.5kW—or just 4.4kW. That’s a big difference in performance.

🏠 Roof Space Is Limited—Use It Wisely

If you’ve only got so much roof, it makes sense to get the most power per square metre. Cramming in more low-output panels could leave you with less energy overall.

Good Solar Is Designed, Not Just Counted

The number of panels is the outcome of smart system design—not the starting point. What really matters is how much energy your system will generate day to day.

Think Performance, Not Just Price

Focus on:

  • Total system output (kWp)

  • Panel efficiency

  • Long-term performance and warranties

If it’s hard to find the wattage of the 18 panel system you’ve been offered, then start to worry.  At Pogo Energy, we help you make the smart choice—not just the biggest panel count.
